Whether it's in the kitchen, within the science classroom, or at parties, slime is always an all time favorite! Here's our quick recipe to making slime:
Materials:
Glue
Baking Soda
Cups
Stirring Rod
Ziploc Bag
Instructions:
Pour out 2 ounces of glue into the cup
Add a dash of baking soda
Mix, and add squirt of glow in the Dark Paint
Keep mixing as you add in Contact Lens Solution
Stop mixing when glue gets harder to mix, and is in a slimey consistency
Remove slime from cup onto plastic bag, and knead with your fingers
Add more contact lens solution, if slime is too liquidy
Knead until in desired consistency
Turn off the lights and let it glow!
Ziploc bag should be used for proper storage.
Science Behind It:
There are many different recipes of slime, but throughout them all, two essential ingredients are used. These ingredients are polyvinyl alcohol and borate ion. In our experiment, the glue contains the polyvinyl alcohol, and the Contact Lens Solution supplies the borate ion. These two ingredients are attracted to each other, and form slime!
